Jenny Finn is a bright light, one who is truly filled with The Spirit. She brings to her work an indomitable passion, a potent capacity for seeing the subtle, and a profound field of prayer. Those who have the opportunity to be with her in her healing work will be uplifted. Her love is palpable.

Watching Jenny give herself over to movement is to participate in a divine process. A swan becoming more swan. A beautiful woman become more beautiful woman. A gifted teacher inviting each of us to take a risk...and become more of who we are...and who we are here on earth to be. Truly one of the most authentic people I know, Jenny creates passionate and contagious invitations. To re-enter our bodies. To rediscover all the joy and power and possibility of fully integrated living. To let our bodies guide us...as safe, trustworthy vessels of hope and grounding. Jenny is the real deal. Outrageously present and open---Jenny gently, invites us to enter into the sacred space of the body. Our beautiful, wise, knowing bodies. With magnetic energy, depth of spirit, and the wisdom of extensive study and life experience, Jenny creates a truly safe space in which people of all ages can birth themselves back into the fullness of life...one step, one breath, one swirl, one deep quiet moment at a time.

Jenny has brought her gift of dance to several of our programs for breast cancer survivors at Memorial Health System. In every instance, participants have embraced the healing experience inherent in this connection with the self that Jenny facilitates through her work. For anyone facing a life-altering challenge such as a cancer diagnosis, the healing process begins with this connection with self. For breast cancer survivors in particular, this type of physical movement can help with maintaining a healthy weight which can in turn reduce the risk for cancer recurrence. Jenny's work, then, is a multidimensional healing experience.

Jenny's gift as a leader in the movement community is her ability to connect one's experience in movement with the very real feelings we experience in our creative lives. Her enthusiasm and willingness to share herself as a fellow human being -- her struggles, interpretations, feelings, and experiences -- invite her students to put forth their own authenticity in a safe and loving environment. When I'm with Jenny, I feel completely free to emote..to move...to deepen into my own being. Look into her eyes...they'll bless you with a sparkle!
 ~ Laura Steinbach, Soma Student

Jenny's dedication to doing her own personal work creates a sacred space to be present to your own healing work. Her movement classes are inviting and deep, allowing for a more intimate connection to your own soul and the souls of others.

I took my preschool class to Soma for a field trip and they loved it! The activities were perfect for four-year-olds (and their younger siblings). My class particularly loved painting their body outlines, playing instruments, and dancing to the music. Jenny and Andy are wonderful with children; they know how to talk to them on their level, empathize, and have fun - while maintaining order at the same time! You can tell that they truly love what they do. I would recommend Soma to anyone with young children - it was a wonderful experience!

Being a part a the Let It shine class was a joyous experience for my children and myself. For my children, ages 4 and 7, this class opened ways of communications through words and physical movements with music, conversation and art. I found Jenny Finn's energetic and playful nature a priceless tool in affirming the importance and beauty of the expression and ownership of ones self. Taking time for breath, aknowlegdement of one's personal space and how to interact in a free and natural way with others while respecting their own space and manners of expression, her class is a breath of fresh air for children in today's go go go world. I love her awareness of the power of play!

Jenny's work is a truly transforming process. Her classes combine the intuitive art of healing with the movement needed to truly feel the inner catalyst for healing work. My life was indeed changed after one class. The classes Jenny offers are the only way I know of to synchronize body, mind, and spirit for harmony, health, and wholeness.

My daughter and I have been participating in Tuesday afternoon sessions of Let it Shine with Jenny over the last several weeks, and find Soma's blend of movement, music, art, and inner awareness/outer connection an original and thoroughly empowering practice. Jenny uses respect, loving direction, and recognition of emotional landscape of the group and individuals as her blueprint for creative interactions among a group of approximately eleven children, ages 3 - 6 years old. Within the framework of one hour, she manages to guide and encourage this diverse group of children to express themselves physically, intellectually, and spiritually as unique persons and larger community based beings . She and her husband/partner Andy have created a space that is is warm, comforting, and hospitable. My daughter and I leave every Soma session exhilirated and filled with the sense of connection between ourselves and this multi-cultural, multi-aged and abled group of beings. My deepest gratitude to the Finn family.

Imagine the freedom of moving to the music of your soul. That is how I feel every time I dance at Soma at one of Jenny's classes. It is nurturing, therapeutic, sometimes surprising, and fun. For someone who has been self-conscious about dancing, this has been truly liberating. Soma offers us a venue that allows our souls to communicate its messages to us through dance.

I have always said that I wished that my life had a sound track. Jenny Finn and SOMA have given it to me. From the first workshop that I took with Jenny, her song list included music that reminded me of my life. Bongo Bill was a time with hot sand between my toes and British researchers. Norah Jones was the road trip out to a new life, and then Nancy Griffith was the road trip home. There were songs, and beats, and emotions, and movements I knew well, and were well practiced. Others were new, foreign, unfamiliar and yet still seemed to fit into the force and direction of my body. Jenny gracefully led me through these phases, chapters, steps, and movements with her presence and with her words. Most importantly, for me, she expertly gave me this backdrop upon which to reflect. How will I move my body? What will my hands do? What will be my next step? What will be my next song?

Thank you Jenny for sharing your passion and energy for movement, art and dance. In reference to the Rhythms of Life class, the "partners" participating in our transitional housing and self-sufficiency program learned how simple movements and visualization can lead to change and balance in their lives. We appreciate your work and generosity.

I have attended several of Jenny's movement workshops and I'm very grateful for the gentle guidance, support and wisdom that she has given me at each of these workshops. I am always amazed at Jenny's ability to help people connect with their inner self through movement, and I recently discovered that she can ignite a connection even in cases where it seems unlikely. Earlier this year, Jenny led a movemtent workshop for high schoolers at Fountain Valley School, in Colorado Springs, for Unity Day. Thanks to carefully selected rhythms, inspiring words and an incredible ability to fuse with her audience and create unity within her audience, Jenny managed to make eight male teenagers move, dance, jump and laugh their hearts out as if they were 2-year-olds playing in a stream! It was just beautiful! Even more beautiful was seeing my 8-year-old son dance like a bird at Jenny's Hand to Hand workshop, in which we participated together. What a wonderful bonding experience this was! Thank you Jenny for bringing the magic of movement to our community and for offering us all these opportunities to experiment with movement and discover our real selves!

The couples night was amazing. It gave me an opportunity to connect with Jen in a new way that felt deeper and more sincere than using words or language. It also reminded me of the connection that we share, our history together, our commitment and our love.
 ~ Greg Glick, Physician's Assistant

What a tremendous gift Jenny Finn's Reunion class was for me and my husband. Through the various activities I was able to connect with my partner in a way that has happened only rarely over the course of our seven year marriage. I find that at times my husband and I can get bogged down in words as we try to communicate and negotiate our lives together. Through movement and embodied practices, however, we were able to merge and rekindle that spark that can feel dimmed over the years. I would, without hesitation, recommend this class for anyone interested in rejoining his or her partner in their relationship.
 ~ Jenny Glick, MA, LMFT

I miss your guided teaching, how you share yourself in a way that makes me fall in love with myself. How your work insists on deepening, gives a strong sense of containment, and both challenges while remaining gentle.

I am one of the founding mothers of First Congregational Church's Movement Ministry under the direction of Jenny Finn. Jenny not only brings solid professional credentials to her work but to me, her special gift is her willingness to share her life's struggles and how she has transformed so much that in turn helps others. Jenny's journey with the God essence informs her work in movement and the freedom and healing it brings.
~ Jean Archer, Healer and Grandmother of the Dance

I take my preschool class to Soma every year to participate in her music, movement, and art activities. Jenny is totally focused on each child that she works with. She enthusiastically supports the children who partake in the activities and gently respects those who choose to just observe. Jenny has a special light of love that radiates out to each child. That same encompassing, unconditional love touches those adults who are fortunate enought to be in attendance. Jenny's program is multicultural and respectful of children and adults of all ages and beliefs.'she will be a blessing to anyone that she has the opportunity to work with.

I have known Jenny for some 8 or more years I have come to consider her one of my dearest friends, a trusted spiritual advisor and guide. She serves as a mentor to my 14 and 16 year old children.Jenny is on her own journey of spiritual growth that she has been called to share with her community and the world. In that honest and open sharing of her experience of God through pain, joy, tears, laughter, honesty, curiosity, fear, hope and love so much love she has deeply touched the lives of so many people. She embodies compassion and also beautifully challenges all who know her or come into contact with her work to embrace the spirit of God in their lives. Jenny brings an ethic for bringing her very best self to her work.
~ Nancy Henjum, LCSW, Executive Leadership Coach

Jenny is able to convey in her teaching that learning is an inseparable partnership between brain and body, intelligence is a function of experience, and that every child has the ability to become a self-assured, caring person, who can respectfully and responsibly solve problems. She sees each child as an individual with individual needs and is able to work with each one, so they know they are supported and nurtured. It is a wonderful sight to see the children leave her teaching with greater self-assurance, smiles on their faces, and an eagerness to have her teach them more. I learn a lot from watching her teaching style, as well as content of lessons. She is an invaluable source of knowledge and experience.
 ~ Becca Williams, Kindergarten Teacher

After spending a beautiful Saturday with Jenny and other seekers, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.  We danced and shared and moved to our own rhythms in ways that felt safe.  The gifts I walked away with were many-including a deeper authenticity and intimacy with myself.  Thanks to Jenny for acting as a grounded, present midwife to the birthing of our soul selves.
